FAQ

Questions, answered.

A few of the things people often wonder before reaching out. Don’t see yours? Contact me.

How do online (telehealth) sessions work?

We meet by secure video, so you can attend from the comfort and privacy of your own home. You’ll need a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera. Before your first session, you’ll get a simple link to join.

What can I expect in our first session?

The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you in, a bit of your history, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with — we move at your pace.

How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?

About an hour — what’s often called a “therapy hour.” In practice that usually means a scheduled hour with the session itself running just under it. For the last seven minutes of our time together we will reiterate what was addressed during the session and make plans for our next meeting. I also offer 45-minute sessions if that is your preference. Regardless of the amount of time we meet, you’ll have my full attention for the whole of it.

Many clients start weekly and adjust the frequency over time, based on their goals and how things are going.

How much does therapy cost? Do you take insurance?

$80 per individual session and $100 per couples session.

I’m also in network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Cigna. Booking through Alma covers a number of additional plans as well — the Getting Started page has the full list. When you book through Headway or Alma, your coverage and any copay are verified before your first session — so you’ll know your cost up front rather than finding out afterward.

If you’re not using insurance, you’re entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of what your care is expected to cost. Just ask and I’ll put one in writing before we begin.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes — a free 15-minute call, with no obligation. It’s a chance to ask questions, tell me a little about what’s going on, and see whether we feel like a good fit before you commit to anything. You’re also always welcome to reach out with questions first.

Which states can you see clients in?

Therapy is licensed at the state level, so I can work with clients located anywhere in Georgia. Because all of my sessions are telehealth, it doesn’t matter where in the state you are — only that you’re in Georgia at the time of your session.

Who do you work with?

Individuals and couples, across a wide range of concerns — with specialized focus on sex therapy and OCD.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy is confidential and protected by law. There are a few limited exceptions required by law and professional ethics — for example, if there’s a serious risk of harm to you or someone else. I’ll go over confidentiality and its limits with you at the start.

What kinds of issues do you work with?

I have more than a decade of experience across a wide range of struggles, with specialized focus on sex therapy and OCD. I also work with anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, life transitions, and communication and boundaries. See the Services page for more.

How do I get started?

Booking happens through Headway or Alma, which handle scheduling, insurance verification, and your intake paperwork in one place. The Getting Started page walks through exactly how it works.
